There’s something magical about the desert. The majestic mountains and towering palms co-mingling with the expansive sky create an enchanting vibe that calls the names of even the most avid surfer and San Francisco city dweller. If you want to tie the knot right in the center of it all, look no further than Miramonte Resort & Spa.
You and your guests can take in all the splendor of California’s sunny haven with Miramonte’s beautiful garden settings boasting impeccable landscape, mature trees and radiant sunsets. And she’s just as beautiful on the inside, as this 11-acre Hilton Curio Collection property recently completed an $8 million makeover that includes all of the event spaces (yes, all 20,000 square feet of indoor space alone!), restaurant, bar, lobby and spa.
The dapper new Citrus and Palm restaurant and Tavern bar areas are modern-industrial, showcasing contemporary clean lines juxtaposed with a strong dark ceiling (white for Tavern), rich woods and a mixture of metals. The wall of French doors leading to the dining terrace bring the desert air in, making it a perfect match of dark and cozy meets light and airy.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable and take on the resort’s California casual feel, and the nice upgrade offerings that don’t break the bank are worth it for the ground level rooms with patios and garden views or suites with balconies overlooking the pool.
There are plenty of options in the area to interest your weekend wedding guests; that is, if you can peel them away from the activities available at the resort. The main pool, complete with classy cabanas and poolside bar, is as immense as the sky glistening in its reflection, and the fire pits and lawn games offer perfect scenes to enjoy time with your friends and family before and after the big day.
For a little pampering time, The Well Spa is perfectly cozy with unique indoor and outdoor amenities, including the River Bench Water Therapy. Consistently ranked as one of the desert’s top spas by prestigious media, they offer creative events and services that are not typical of every spa. Start your marriage off with a Sage Intention Burning Ceremony, or indulge in a Painting Party Treatment that begins with colorful mud painting on each other as you sip champagne, followed by a couple’s massage. Rather do spa time with your tribe? They will customize a bachelorette party and also offer pre-wedding hair and makeup services.
If all the resort’s experiences leave you feeling hungry, the food is as top notch as any on the desert scene, and Executive Chef Paul is as ingenious as he is humble. The new California cuisine and cocktail menus utilize their on-site herb garden and plethora of citrus trees, and include, of course, California craft beers and wines. Chef Paul brings the menu further home-grown by incorporating Coachella Valley’s date farms. The date shake is a dessert not to miss (think late-night reception snacks), and since no California wedding menu should be without avocados, you’ll want to ask Chef Paul about his “avocado three ways.”
When planning your desert wedding, remember that the daytime temperatures can heat up well into mid-fall, but Miramonte’s indoor and outdoor spaces have you covered anytime of year.
INSIDER TIP: Be sure to visit the expertly curated gift shop while you’re there! The tiny shop packs a huge shopping punch with fabulous curiosities. Spoil your bridesmaid besties with their super cute and comfy Pretty You slippers paired with a pretty pedi at the spa (adorable Instagram op!).
